Comment from the editor

It gives me great pleasure to introduce the latest issue of the Journal of Co-operative Studies, which is a special issue on Worker Co-operatives and Concern for Community. It is guest edited by Malu Villela, Eleonore Perrin, François Deblangy, and Emre Sahin. Inspired by Principle 7, concern for community, this special issue investigates the role played by worker co-operatives in their local communities by exploring their core mission of putting both the direct membership and local communities before profit.

Special issues are an important feature of the Journal of Co-operative Studies. They present us with opportunities to explore emerging topics, offer fresh perspectives on key issues, and bring together co-operative voices from across the world. As the Journal’s editor, I particularly value the opportunity they give early career researchers, helping them to develop reviewing and editorial skills, as well as expanding their networks.

The editorial team are always happy to discuss ideas for special issues. If there is a topic you would like to develop, please email me.
