Abstract

An appreciation of Johnston Birchall. Nick Matthews is a director of the Heart of England Co-operative Society, and Senate member at the Co-op Group. He has recently retired (2020) from his term of office as Chair of Co‑operatives UK. He is, amongst other things, reviews editor for the Journal of Co-operative Studies and a ‘serial co-operator’.
