UK Society for Co-operative Studies Conference 2024

Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd March, 2024 in Lichfield, Staffordshire

Supported by: Central Co-op

Sustainability of the co-operative ecosystem: The role of secondary co-operatives and federations

The Conference will have a blend of keynote speakers, presentations, discussion and visits/talks to give delegates both significant input and plenty of opportunity to engage in discussion with colleagues around the key theme: Co-operation among Co-operatives. This is a similar format to the 2023 Conference which was described as an “excellent event”.

Location and Timing

The Conference is being hosted in Central House, the new Central Co-op building in Lichfield, from midday on Friday March 1st to early afternoon on Saturday March 2nd.

*** Address: Central House, Queen St, Lichfield WS13 6QD *** note slight change to the address

Keynote Speakers
Debbie Robinson, Chief Executive, Central Co-op (Friday March 1st)
Dr Anita Mangan, Editor Journal of Co-operative Studies (Saturday March 2nd)

Panel and Presentations
In addition to the Keynote speakers, the Conference is delighted to have a range of input from academics and leaders of co-operative bodies, both UK and international colleagues.

Visits
Following the very positive feedback about the visits to Lincolnshire sites in 2023, Central Co-op staff will lead delegates on visits/talks on the Friday afternoon – drawing out the relationship between co-operative thinking and day-to-day working.

Dinner
Delegates additionally have the opportunity to attend a Conference Dinner on the Friday evening. The setting and approach this year will offer delegates greater opportunity to network with colleagues in addition to an After-Dinner presentation.
