An opportunity has arisen to join the Modern Management team and research group within the Business School at the University of Eastern Finland on a fixed-term two-year contract (starting on 1st September 2025, or as agreed with the successful applicant). 

The duties of the Researcher include:

  • conducting co-operative management, governance, and purpose related research; publishing activities; planning new co-operative research projects and writing funding applications; cooperating with the team on other related topics
  • contributing to joint publications within the modern management research group
  • supervising co-operative related master’s theses and doctoral dissertations
  • assisting in teaching activities.

You must have:

  • a background in business studies/management or a similar field
  • a doctoral degree in an applicable field by the time the employment begins. If the doctoral degree was awarded less than five years ago, the post will be one of a Postdoctoral Researcher. If the doctoral degree was awarded more than five years ago, the post will be one of a Project Researcher. In this context, five years refer to a net period of time, which does not include parental leaves or military service.
    peer-reviewed scientific publications in the field
  • ability to teach and conduct research in English and
  • an affinity for social scientific / empirical business studies research methods.

Researchers are expected to have an independent and productive approach to working and to be interested in developing their skills in conducting research. The following will be considered an advantage:

  • expertise in co-operative organisation and management related topic
  • experience in conducting and publishing scientific research
  • experience in applying for research funding and managing such project
  • experience in teaching and supervision 
  • strong networks

Salary

The salary of the post is based on the salary system for the teaching and research staff of Finnish universities. The salary consists of a job-related salary element and a personal salary element. The job-related salary element is based on level 5 of the job requirement level chart and the personal salary element is 6–50% of the job-related salary element. Depending on the personal salary element, the salary at the beginning of the employment is approximately EUR 3,530 – 4,020 /month.
