Abstract

This paper suggests that the rhetoric of political party's support for the principles and practices of co-operation and their centrality to their policies is somewhat different from the exposition of party's policies. Instead, the role of the Co-operative Party is to promote co-operative interests and apply co-operative principles and while it aligns with the Labour Party and trad unions, it's role is to act as a lobbying force and spur to the Labour Party's commitment to co-operative development and as a brake during a period of Conservative government.
