Abstract
This paper looks at the changes brought about by the 1984 review of the Co-operative Union's operations and services. The author suggest that although changes in the Union's activities can be traced by to 1970 with the transfer pf the Union's advisory services to the Co-operative Wholesale Society, there can be little doubt that the 1984 Review began to move events in the direction in which they have since travelled. The paper reviews the period from 1984 to 1989.
