Abstract

Given a caveat that the Social Democratic Party is not exactly in the best of order and difficulty in quoting from old policy statements, there has been a great deal of sympathy for co-operatives that comes naturally to a Part in the middle, not committed to nationalisation on the one hand, nor unadulterated capitalist enterprise on the other. This paper looks at hopes and prospects for worker co-ops, co-ops for over-60s, and developing small co-op shops.
