The paper reports on a questionnaire survey carried out as part of the Reasserting Co-operative Advantage project. The survey covers co-operative strategic management, membership, human resource management, and operational, marketing and cultural issues covering seven trading areas: Food, Dairy, Non-food, Chemists, Motor, Funeral, and Travel. The survey was sent in July 1999 to the chief executives of retail co-operative societies in Great Britain.
