Abstract

This paper considers how innovative forms of ownership can further the transformation of control of labour and capital. In particular, it focuses on the combination of two forms of ownership - ownership in worker co-operatives and ownership in consumer co-operatives - which can provide new opportunities for successful alternative enterprises. The paper uses the case example of Carrboro, a natural foods co-operative in North Carolina.
