Association of financial mutuals

The AFM is the trade body for mutual and non-profit insurers in the UK and aims to advocate the values of mutuality and through this, to promote the expansion of the sector. AFM offers a range of activity to enhance members' knowledge and support the development of teams across the mutual sector, including online training and webinars, practitioner-led roundtables, and face-to-face networking events.

AFC is part of the Mutuals & Co-operatives Together partnership group alongside the Association of British credit Unions, the Building Societies Association, Co-operatives Uk, and the Employee ownership Association). Together they commissioned WPI Economics to carry out research to measure the growth of the co-operative and mutual sector in the UK. The report - Harnessing the sector's potential for growth - was published in 2025.
