Cooperativism at Work: Worker-owned co-operatives around the world is edited by Bruno Roelants and features 26 case studies and contributions from 31 authors showcasing worker and social co-operatives.

The book - due out in February 2026 -  has aleady been endorsed by three key economists: Thomas Piketty (Paris School of Economics), Stefano Zamagni (Bologna University, Italy), and Richard Wolff (Massachusetts University/New School university New York, US). The analysis emphasizes the importance of education and training, capital accumulation facilitated by supportive regulatory frameworks and inter-cooperative systems (networks, agencies, federations, and peer groups), and the role of worker cooperativism in promoting equality, community development, and environmental sustainability.

The book also explores the evolution of the co-operative principles and the impact that worker-owned co-operatives have had on them, as well as the international history and context of worker-co-operatives since the 17th century.

There is a dedicated YouTube channel providing more information about the book and where videos of the case studies in the book will be uploaded.  One of the case studies, the French worker co-operative Ardelaine, founded in 1982 with the restoration of an old wool mill in the 1970s, is already available on the channel.

You can view a short video introducing the book (also available on the YouTube channel in French and Spanish), below along with the link to the site.
